 *** WORKING DRAFT ***
Please review, edit and comment as necessary.

An improvement to the commercial building module is required and shall be introduced in Hassayampa (Version 3.0). As of Four Corners (Version 2.2), the commercial building module only supports single zones with packaged unit (e.g., rooftop) HVAC.

Use Case

 TODO:

General Requirements

The following requirement are to be satisfied by Hassayampa (Version 3.0)

R1

Multiple zone buildings
Commercial buildings shall support multiple zones in a single building.

R1.1

Number of zones
The number of zones modeled shall be determined by the user's model definition.

R1.2

Interconnected zones
The multizone model shall allow the user to specify the heat flow and air-exchange rates between each zone as a function of the difference conditions in each zone and the HVAC system type in use.

R2

Commercial HVAC systems
Commercial buildings shall support central HVAC systems.

R2.1

Variable air volume
The central HVAC system model shall support Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems.

R2.2

Constant volume
The central HVAC system model shall support Constant Volume Reheat (CVR) systems.

R2.3

Rooftop package unit with plenum return
The central HVAC system model shall support Rooftop Package Unit with Plenum Return (RTUPR) systems.

R2.4

Four pipe HVAC
The central HVAC system model shall support Four Pipe (FOURPIPE) systems.

R3

Building types
Commercial buildings class shall be implemented for different building types.

R3.1

Small office
The small_office class shall implement single-zone office buildings with rooftop packaged unit systems.

R3.2

Large office
The large_office class shall implement multi-zone office buildings with multiple package-unit systems or central systems.

R3.3

Retail
The retail class shall implement single- and multi-zone retail buildings with one or more rooftop packages unit systems.

R3.4

Grocery
The grocery class shall implement retail food sales (e.g., grocery, supermarket) buildlings.

R3.5

Food service
The food_service class shall implement food service buildings.

R3.5

Lodging
The lodging class shall implement hotel/motel buildings.

R3.6

School
The school class shall implement education building.

R3.7

Health
The health class shall implement health service delivery (e.g., clinic, hospital) buildings.

R4

Input data
 TODO:

R5

Output data
 TODO:

R6

Intermediate data
The model shall publish intermediate values for debugging and performance enhancement purposes.

R6.1

Number of zones
The number of conditioned zones in the building shall be designated Nzones.

R6.2

Number of nodes
The number of thermal nodes in the building shall be designated Nnodes.

R6.2.1

Special nodes
The number of nodes shall include the ground and outdoor air nodes.

R6.3

Timestep
The maximum simulation timestep allowed for the building shall be designated dt in s.

R6.4

Temperature difference
The temperature differences between nodes shall be designated dT(Nnodes x Nnodes) in degF.

R6.5

Heat capacity
The heat capacity of nodes shall be designated Cp(Nnodes x Nnodes) in Btu/degF.

R6.6

HVAC heat (loss)
The heat gain from (loss to if negative) the HVAC system shall be designated Qh(Nnodes) in Btu/h.

R6.7

Solar gains
The solar gains shall be designated Qs(Nnodes) in Btu/h.

R6.8

Thermal gain (loss)
The thermal gains from (or loss to if negative) other zones shall be designated Qz(Nnodes x Nnodes) in Btu/h. The diagonal values shall represent internal gains (or loss if negative) for each node.

R6.9

Zone temperature
The zone temperatures shall be designated Tz(Nzones) in degF.

R6.10

Node temperature
The node temperatures shall be designated T(Nnodes) in degF.

R6.11

Thermal conductance
The thermal conductances shall be designated UA(Nnodes) in Btu/degF/h.

R6.12

Heating setpoint
The heating setpoints shall be designated Thset(Nzones) in degF.

R6.13

Cooling setpoint
The cooling setpoints shall be designated Tcset(Nzones) in degF.

R6.14

Heating capacity
The heating system capacity shall be designated Qhcap in Btu/h. If separate heating capacities are used for each zone, the heating system capacity shall be designated Qhcap(Nzones) in Btu/h.

R6.15

Cooling capacity
The cooling system capacity shall be designated Qhcap in Btu/h. If separate cooling capacities are used for each zone, the cooling system capacity shall be designated Qhcap(Nzones) in Btu/h.
